Dear Fellow Polygraph Examiner,

On behalf of the Maine Polygraph Association I am pleased to invite you and your association members to a Polygraph Training Conference to be held at National Semi-Conductor, 5 Foden Road, South Portland, Maine 04106, on Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15, 2004. This conference is a combined venture of the Maine Polygraph Association, the American Polygraph Association and the Canadian Association of Police Polygraphist- Region 5.
The conference will begin with a full day of chart interpretation and scoring training, followed that evening with cocktails and a roast beef and Italian cuisine dinner buffet at the nearby Italian Heritage Center. During the second day of the conference, presentations will cover ethics, pre-employment exams, and physiology refresher training.
The fee for attending this conference is $100.00, which includes the buffet dinner Friday night and a catered Pizza and salad lunch buffet on Saturday. Lunch on Friday is at the attendee’s own expense. The folks at National Semi- Conductor have been kind enough to allow us access to there on-campus cafeteria and deli on Friday. Wraps, sandwiches, salads and hot lunches can be purchased there starting at around $4.00 and there are a dozen major restaurants within a mile or less of the conference site.
We have arranged a special conference price of $49.95 for lodging at the Comfort Inn at 90 Maine Mall Road, South Portland, Maine. Contact Jeanie Cohen, Comfort Inn 207 775-1755 for reservations. If you prefer something more upscale there are a half dozen other very nice hotels close by. The Portland International Jetport, the Comfort Inn and the National Semi-Conductor are all within a mile of each other.
Attendees of the conference will receive a certificate of 16 hours of training from American Polygraph Association.
Respectfully,

Mark F. Teceno

Hey Ralph,

I guess we need to open a new, major open forum header with training notices and such. I mean, with 2 major/1 minor national associations and 50 state associations (or so) and all their ongoing stuff, we ought to put it out there for anyone to read and respond to.

A lot of people haven't registered yet for the private site, but read the open area. Let's make training issues public, for their sake.

Jim

P.S. Attendance qualifications should be mandatory for any training posts (ie. attendance only for examiners, open to the public, etc) Just another idea..

Jim,

Actually, the examiners who post in the public forums are the same ones who have taken an effort to be part of the private forums.

At this time, I'd rather just have a running thread of seminar notices here in the private forum as my goal is really to get examiners participating here. The public forums are just that, public and I don't think they are really that interested in polygraph seminars anyway.

Regardless, I'll put some thought into how we might use the board for training related posts. Of course, I already print those in the newsletter as well.

Ralph,

I understand your intentions and meaning, but putting training in a public post would have a multi-fold, positive. Not only does it show some examiners who do not register or receive the newletter what is happening, but also the public then sees us involved in continuing education, and more importantly, the importance we, as a community have in continuing education. There are still a lot of examiners out here that have yet to take the profession and recent changes and threats very seriously.

I don't know how many examiners post and read the open web site; but, do not, for whatever reason, register for the private area? If this is more than one, it is too many and I agree we should have them involved in professional discussions, but if they don't register, they have some reason for it, right?

I simply approached this idea from the positive public relations position as well as information.

Jim

Jim,

I'll give your idea a try...for the sake of the public as you mentioned. I've set up a new public forum called 'Polygraph Continuing Education Seminars'.

Oh. I also added you onto this forum as a moderator. That way, you will get automatic notices when a new post has been made. If you do not want that, just let me know, but it makes it easier to know when something new has been posted.
